One of the most frustrating Android issues ever is having a phone that is either stuck in some process and not responding or stuck in a power outage and refuses to turn on. But no matter how dire things may seem, there is almost always a solution.

The simplest one is the hard restart: Depending on your device, you'll need to press and hold the power button alone for 30 seconds to a minute - or press and hold the power button and volume down button together for that same amount of time (or until you feel a vibration and see something appear on the the screen). If you see a strange-looking menu that says "Start" and contains an Android bot image, don't worry: just press the power button again, and your phone will start up normally.

If nothing happens with either of these processes, try leaving your phone plugged in for a few hours, just to make sure the battery doesn't run out. Then try again.

If things  still do  n't work out — and if you don't even see the standard battery indicator graphic on the screen when the phone is plugged in — well, my friend, it's time to make your way to our final Android case.
