Explaining TikTok to people over the age of 18 can be tricky. Musica.ly with lip sync video, Snapchat with filters and chat, and totally different. Aimed at teens directly, it's a social network filled with short videos that seem to have come out of nowhere to grab someone's phone of a certain age.

The application did not come out of nowhere. It came from China. It's huge, localized all over the West, and it's very popular here. Tik Tok is so popular that Snapchat and Facebook called it a direct competitor and have been at the top of the Apple App Store download charts for several months.

Set up TikTok

Since Tik Tok is a mobile app, you need to download and install it on your phone from the relevant app store. Next, you need to create an account. Then you can start.

Download and install TikTok from the App Store or Google Play Store.

Follow the wizard to set up your account.

Start browsing the app.

This is amazing. Now you can enjoy social networking.

Use Tik Tok

When you sign in, you'll see a For You feed that lists the most popular videos at the moment. If you don't mind, choose what you want to see and express your gratitude. If you are playing a video, it will play until you stop or select another video.

If you want to take a look around, tap the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of the screen to search. You can directly search by hashtags, most popular users, popular songs and videos. Select a video to start playing.

If you like the video, you can choose to use the heart icon on the right or add a comment with a callout. If you have a lot of videos that users like, you can follow them by choosing a name and adding it to your feed.

Tik Tok uses your Likes and Follows to decide what you want to see and what you don't like and adjust your feed accordingly. If you've been using Tik Tok for a while and appreciate some videos, you'll see the Follow tab at the top of your home screen showing the video of the person who created your favorite video. This is an abbreviation for content that you may or may not use.

Upload the video to TikTok

Browsing consumer media is just one part of TikTok. The real power is in helping you create your video, make some basic edits, and upload it to your site. Of course it's not required, but if you don't contribute, you'll miss out.

TikTok is all about short videos. 15 seconds of fame wrapped in a social package. If you want, Tik Tok makes it very easy to create your own content and add it to your network. If you use Snapchat or Instagram, there is no difference in the process.

Here are the basics of adding your video to TikTok:

Prepare everything yourself, set it up, sing and paint.

Practice what to do to get perfect.

Open TikTok on your mobile and tap on the “+” at the bottom of the screen.

Select Add Audio at the top and select the audio you want to add.

Hit History when you're ready.

If history does not stop automatically, tap History again to stop it.

On the next screen, add effects, text, or edits to your video and select Next when you're done.

Select the friends you want to tag and select Next.

Select Publish when you are ready to publish.

The main thing to remember when shooting a Tik Tok video is to spend more time on what you can't see than what you see. Preparation and rehearsals are key. It can take up to an hour to get the performance right for 15 seconds, but it may take several times until you are satisfied. That's fine and that's what most TikTok users usually accept.

Hopefully Tik Tok is not as confused as before, and should have a basic understanding of how networks work and how they contribute. The rest is trial and error. So do your best!
